"The radiance that is neither East nor West comes from a single moon." Rumi
We believe that interfaith can go beyond respectful dialogue - as vital
as that is. These services offer an inclusive spiritual experience
that draws on the finest teachings from East and West and emphasizes
their relevance to mindful, joyful contemporary living. Rev Dr Stephanie Dowrick is an ordained Interfaith Minister who sees her
ministry as reaching out to all, regardless of their faith background,
through teachings, scriptures and inspirations that speak directly to
our minds and hearts, honouring the sacred and creating positive, practical changes in our lives. Interfaith services offer teachings, prayers, readings and music from a
wide variety of traditions, emphasising a direct experience of the
sacred, celebrating difference and diversity, while also reflecting the
unity of the human desire to grow in understanding of what life most
truly is and can become.
Interfaith in Sydney enjoys a most wonderful home through the
generosity of the Pitt Street Uniting Church community and its
minister, Reverend Ian Pearson. Pitt Street is itself an outstandingly
inclusive and theologically progressive parish, bringing the message of
love and practical concern through a variety of services and
initiatives. For more information about Pitt Street Uniting Church

“In the presence of God there is neither male nor female, white nor
black, Gentile nor Jew, Protestant nor Catholic, Hindu, Buddhist, nor
Muslim, but a human spirit stripped to the literal substance of itself
before God.” - Howard Thurman
“Inter means an openness to learn from others…a trust in what will be
found; it is the conscious assimilation of whatever is valuable to aid
one’s own journey…a sense of responsibility to humankind as a whole,
and to all living beings. “ - Brother Wayne Teasdale
“The only way to find God is to see him in his creation and be one with
it. This can only be done by service to all.” – Mahatma Gandhi
