Colour [72dpi 283x425 pixels 60KB ] Biography - Reverend Dr Stephanie Dowrick :: About Stephanie Dowrick Reverend Dr Stephanie Dowrick is the author of a number of life-changing best-selling books, including Intimacy and Solitude, Forgiveness and Other Acts of Love, The Universal Heart and Choosing Happiness: Life & Soul Essentials. Her most recent book is In the Company of Rilke. She has the rare distinction of having had five No.1 bestselling books. Her books have been translated into a number of languages. She has been the "Inner Life" columnist for Good Weekend Magazine since 2001 and for many years has been a regular guest on ABC Radio. A collection of her columns, along with some other more personal writings, was published as Free Thinking. She also works on a regular basis with Breast Cancer Network Australia.
In June 2005 Stephanie was ordained in New York as an Interfaith Minister. She has for many years given talks and conducted retreats and workshops on a variety of spiritual, psychological and ethical issues. She continues to develop this aspect of her work. Stephanie gives regular Interfaith services at Pitt Street Uniting Church, 264 Pitt Street, Sydney, 2000 and regular retreats at Mana Retreat Centre, nr Coromandel, New Zealand. Stephanie completed her PhD at the University of Western Sydney. She is an Adjunct Fellow with the Writing & Society Research Group, UWS. Born in New Zealand, Stephanie lived in London for many years where in 1977 she founded and was first Managing Director of the prestigious independent publishing house, The Women's Press.
